Hello tennis club members,
Our club AGM is next week, on Thursday 27 August 2020 at 5-6pm, in a short lively outdoor format. We look forward to seeing some of you there & you’re welcome to join in for a short hit of tennis or drinks afterwards. More info/committee nominations are on our website. This time around we need a treasurer. This role is light & well-supported, using the Xero system, so have a chat to us if you’d like to contribute. Thank you to Karen Hocking for her stellar work as treasurer over the last five years.
Thank you to everyone who has renewed memberships, which are now due. We have had very strong renewals indeed and our covid-discount of Family $150, Single $90, Junior $45, is only available to ongoing members. There’s a bucketload of benefits to memberships set out on our website or just ask our court manager if you have any questions about your renewals.
We’re having a 40th birthday party for the club in a month or so, dust off your retro tennis gear & stay tuned for the date, it’s sure to be loads of fun for all ages.
Thank you everyone for sticking to COVID-19 guidelines set by the State Government, in order to keep us all safe & for peace of mind for us all. Please ensure the club has your latest contact details & court bookings must be done online with your phone contact, for needed contact records.
We’ve had a corrosion-kind of headache with our new court fence. Apparently this is due to inferior powder-coating which the contractor & supplier are sorting out in conjunction with Tennis Qld. We understand the posts will be overhauled & we may need to close for a short time to do this but we’ll give you plenty of advance notice when a date is set.
Tenders are now open for construction of the new PB Community House & adjacent Greenspace, after the collapse of Ri-Con. Bark Design has completed the design & now the project goes out to tender for a new construction company. Tenders close on September 15 & more tender info is avail at https://www.noosa.qld.gov.au/business/regs-toolbox/tenders-procurement/current-tenders Council encourages submissions from local contractors so spread the word.
Enjoy this mild weather for a daytime hit, especially on the weekdays between 11am and 3pm when courts are often sitting idle awaiting your arrival. Also, courts are available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings so by all means use the BBQ & make a night of it. A friendly reminder – playing between 10am & 3pm is free for members playing with other members – but if you’re playing with non members at this time it is $5 per court per hour.
See you on the court soon.
Kim (club president) and Andrew (court manager)
