Tennis Australia has awarded Peregian Beach with a main-draw player to cheer for in the Australian Open. Our player is Mariana Duque Marino. The idea is that the town cheer for the player any way we can think of, via Facebook, banners etc. This promotes tennis in our community and lets the players to know they have a whole Australian town cheering for them. They often take to social media to engage with their towns. It’s all about encouraging tennis participation everywhere from major cities to rural communities and giving towns a chance to get noticed by the world’s top players.
