Winter Tennis Action

Hello members and players,

We are so pleased you are all out enjoying your tennis again. As a small outdoor club we’re well positioned to offer plenty of ‘personal space’ as we move into Stage 3 (from 10 July) and sport numbers open up, with the same 1.5m space-practises in place.

Winter is such a great time to enjoy daytime tennis and there are so many options for you at the club.

Firstly, a reminder about free tennis 10am to 3pm, for members playing with other members only. Outside this time, daytime rates are just $5 per court per hour (non-member $15) & Night-time rates are $10 per court per hour (non-member $20). This is subject to court-space, please book online & strictly applies to off-peak. Non-members pay normal rates, playing with members or not.

We’d love to hear from you about membership for 2020/21. Like many, our club has not had income for March to May, but by the same token we know it does not really seem fair to expect you to pay full memberships when you couldn’t use your full 2019-20 one. We’re thinking of a 3-month (1/4 off) reduction off your 2020/21 memberships. Hit reply if you have a view on this, our committee will make decisions based on your feedback. We have the strongest membership right now than we have ever had in our 40-year history and we would love to keep it this way!

Baby news, with two future tennis champs in the making. Allira Maddox has had a gorgeous baby boy in March, she is back living nearby and will see you all soon for tennis.  Also, Nic Bott, Lloyd’s granddaughter, has had a baby boy, Riley, born on 7 Feb. Nic lives interstate but she has many fond memories growing up playing tennis here and says hello to you all. She’s sent some lovely pics which are circulating, let me know if you haven’t yet seen them.

FairPlay vouchers for families. Kids who are experiencing hardship as a result of Covid-19 can apply for a $150 voucher for sports membership, rego or participation. The voucher expiry dates have been extended to 11 Nov 2020 and need to be given to clubs by then. Round 3 will open 11 July & families can apply via this link:  https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/fairplay/apply

Thank you for adhering to distancing & hygiene practises. Vitally, if you’re ill or have been in contact with someone who is, please don’t attend. Insurance policies don’t cover medical insurance if someone coming to our club became ill with the virus. Please refer to the latest COVID-19 Community Tennis Guidelines displayed at the club & at this link for more info. We encourage all participants/visitors to sign up to the COVID Safe App to simplify the process of keeping safe. We must maintain a record of club attendees for at least 28 days, in the event of a health alert, and the App makes this easier for all.

We look forward seeing you on the court soon.  Andrew – Court Manager & Kim  – Club President (on behalf of committee)
